-
- TO INSTALL:
- ===========
-
- 1. Extract the files with a long-filenames capable unzipping utility
- ( Winzip 6.0 for Windows 95 works ) into your Plus! themes directory,
- usually C:\Program Files\Plus!\Themes\
-
- 2. There should be two Quake files and one new directory in your Themes
- directory, they are :
-
- Quake Theme Read Me.txt -- the file you are now reading
-
- Quake (high color).the -- the file that quakifies your desktop
-
- \Quake Theme -- directory with the theme files in it
-
- 3. Use the Desktop Themes control panel to apply the Quake theme to your
- computer.
-
- 4. Run the following batch file to copy new open & close logo's into
- Windows 95. ( It will back up your old ones & rename them logo.bak,
- logos.bak & logow.bak ) BUT it only works if you have C drive as your
- main drive and windows 95 on that drive in the default folder (ie: c:\
- windows). Otherwise, you will have to manually replace your logo.sys,
- logos.sys, and logow.sys with the ones I've provided.
-
- c:\Program Files\plus!\Themes\quake\logobkup.bat
-
- This batch file will also put the quake font in your C:\Windows\Font
- directory and the ScreenSaver with it's 2 DLL's in your C:\Windows\
- System file. REMEMBER, if you do not have windows on your C drive, or
- you did not install it to its default directory, you will have to
- manually put the quake___ttf file in the windows\font directory, and
- the files Sstext3d.scr, Opengl32.dll & Glu32.dll in your Windows\
- System directory.
-
- 5. Here's how to setup Windows 95 to use the Screen Saver:
-
- a) Right Click on an empty portion of the Screen Select Properties
- b) Click on the ScreenSaver Tab
- c) Select the Text3D ScreenSaver
- d) On the ScreenSaver Window, Click on the Settings Button
- e) Click on the Choose Font button
- f) Scroll down the list and Choose the QUAKE as the font
- g) Click OK
- h) Type whatever you want in the TEXT Box (I Suggest "QUAKE RULES Q")
- Note: The Quake Font only uses capital letters. Make sure you have
- all caps in the text box.
- i) The Q's are the Quake Symbol..
- j) Click on OK once you have set your preferences, then click on
- preview to see what it looks like....ENJOY!!

- Addendum :
- ==========
-
- Sounds : All sounds were taken from the Qtest demo. The wallpaper and font
- came from id's ftp site (in the quake\imagery directory). I made the
- cursors, icon's and the startup/wait/shutdown screens.
-
- ScreenSaver : Thanks go to Robert Rudeseal for capping off this theme with
- a Quakified screen saver. It just didn't feel very quake-like when the
- starfield simulation kicked in. :)
-
- If you would like to release an improved version of this quake theme, please
- give credit to those who worked on this project before your re-release it.
- Credits are at the end of this Quake Read Me file.
-
- Disclamer: Use this theme at your own risk. Do not e-mail gripes,
- bitches, or complaints (complements are welcome, however).
- If you like it GREAT!! If not...DELETE IT!!!!

- it or otherwise make a profit off of it without id's permission.
